Music is the only form of communication Connor Owens controls. No matter how badly he wishes to fit in, friendly banter and casual conversations have never been his thing. College is yet another social universe he has no clue how to navigate—until he meets Jared, a football player with chestnut eyes and a cocky grin that holds the power to shatter his self-imposed prison.

Jared’s attention opens Connor up to a new realm of emotional and physical intimacy. But as Connor’s self-confidence grows, so does his fear that everything will fall apart. Because in this socially stratified world, how long can a relationship between an introverted violinist and a closeted football player really last?

Alex’s life as a teenager in South Central L.A. is far from perfect, but it’s his life, and he knows how to live it. He knows what role to play and what things to keep to himself. He’s got it all under control, until one lousy pair of shoes kicks him out of his world and lands him in a foster care group home.

Surrounded by strangers and trapped in a life where he could never belong, Alex turns to the only person lower on the social ladder than he is: a “special” mute boy. In Sebastian, Alex finds a safe place to store his secrets—those that sent him to foster care, and the deeper one that sets him apart from the other teenagers he knows. But Sebastian has secrets of his own, and when tragedy rips the two boys apart, Alex will stop at nothing to find the answers—even if it means dragging them both through a past full of wounds best left buried.

It might just be worth it, for the slim chance at love.

Simon has found himself in an open relationship for the summer—though not by choice. Instead of wallowing, he’s decided to make the most of a family vacation to Costa Rica by hooking up with the first hot guy available. Trouble is, he has no clue how to go about doing that.

Luckily, he runs into someone with a little more experience. But when the moments of lust turn into something more, Simon isn’t so sure he’ll be able to return to his old relationship. And there’s no way to hold onto this new one, either, as thousands of miles will separate them in only a few short weeks. Either way, he’ll have to learn to let go.

Hi, I have read ‘Social Skill’ last year and being a bad reader that I am, I didn’t leave any comment, telling how much I’ve loved that story.
I found out it is in premium content in gayauthors.org now and I’m tempting to buy the premium access just to re read your story.
Are you going to publish the story? If so, I’ll wait to just buy a copy from you. And ‘Silent’ sounds intriguing.

    Have a lovely day :)

    Hi Sara
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading “Social Skill”. You certainly know how to mess with my emotions. Your writing skills had me laughing and once or twice crying as the two main characters battled with the obstacles thrown at them. A fantastic read and thank you for that.
Now going to see if I can track down “Silent”. Keep up the good work

I’m currently reading Social Skills and I’m nearly finished. I know I’m reading an amazing book when I get the last chapter blues, because I can’t bare for the story to end!
You’ve had me crying more than a few times and kicking my feet with excitement too.
Thank you so much for pouring your heart into this. It really shows. The characters felt so natural and organic that I don’t want to say good bye to them.
I’m definitely keeping an eye out for future novels of yours. Will Silent be out for kindle soon?
Thanks for putting your work out there. I truly love this book!

Ps. I would have happily paid more for Social Skills on Kindle.

I just finished re-reading Social Skills, absolutely love this book! Connor and Jared are so relatable and real…your ability to keep the emotion and the momentum of the story going is superb. So happy I stumbled upon Social Skills while aimlessly browsing through the Kindle store. Really looking forward to your next book :)

Sara, I just needed to stop and take a second to tell you how much I absolutely adored Social Skills!
I bought it on a whim on my Kindle because I love this genre and
Conner and Jared were so easy to relate to and how they both grow and struggle throughout the story touched me constantly!
I didn’t want it to be over, but there was no putting it down once i got started!
And now I’m off to investigate the rest of your works with a contented feeling in my heart because of that ending!

okay so I have to say it. What is wrong with you? just finished social skills and couldn’t put the thing down! it made me cry, made me laugh, made me hate you for a minute when (okay won’t give a spoiler). so against what the hell is wrong with you? why is this not avalible on audible? go, go now and get this thing turned into an awesome audio book. it will sell lots of copies and you will make much bucks. if you keep this up you are going to become one of my top ten authors. social skills ranks up there with time enough for love. as someone who’s audio book collection is freaking HUGE and who’s text collection is even bigger, take my advice and do the world a favor and turn one of the worlds best gay romance novels into a freakin audio book already. maybe have one of the guys who did will Grayson will Grayson do it.

Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Lol. And thank you very much. :) I was actually about to update my blog with info on the audiobook situation…I had a narrator who didn’t pan out, but the good news is that I do have a very special narrator now signed on. He’s unavailable for a few months, but I’m hoping it will be ready by early next year!
